Kent's academy director Paul Farbrace has been appointed as new Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss's assistant.
The 40-year-old has also served as coach of the England women's and men's Under-19 teams in the past.
Bayliss, who was named as Tom Moody's successor in June, recommended his appointment to Sri Lanka Cricket.
"It has been a difficult decision to make because I am really enjoying the job here at Kent," Farbrace, who has agreed a two-year contract, said.
"There is real talent within the Kent system and I believe there a number of our youngsters who could make a significant impact on Kent cricket in the future.."
Kent director of cricket Graham Ford added: "Paul has made a major contribution to the development of our youngsters during his time with us and it will be sad to see him go.
"In many ways it is a compliment to both Paul and the club that he should have been selected for such a prestigious post."
Farbrace's first task will be to help Australian Bayliss prepare Sri Lanka for the World Twenty20 tournament in South Africa in September.
Moody left after the 50-over World Cup in April, in which the team lost in the final to Australia.
