India declaration sets up finale
Tour match, Grace Road: Sri Lanka A v India

Sri Lanka A closed on 112-1 on day two of the three-day tour match against India at Grace Road.

Sri Lankan lead by 140 with Michael Vandort 61 not out and Dilruwan Perera unbeaten on 48 after India declared on 238-5 at tea, 28 runs adrift.

Indian opener Gautam Gambhir hit 67 before retiring, while Rahul Dravid also scored 67.

"The declaration was made to make the game more exciting and interesting," said Gambhir.

"Any game on a tour is important and you need to take your chance when the opportunities arise. So it was good to get some time in the middle which is what I need. It helps to raise confidence.

"Winning the Test match at Trent Bridge has produced a great feeling in the dressing room and there is a terrific spirit and real happiness among the squad."

For Sri Lanka A, Michael Vandort was 61 not out, while Dilruwan Perera was unbeaten on 48 with Mahela Udawatte out for a duck.

The third and final Test between India and England is set for the Oval from 9-13 August.
