Garaway named new England analyst
Mark Garaway
Garaway will go on the tour of India with the England team
Somerset first team coach Mark Garaway is England's new video analyst and assistant to coach Duncan Fletcher.

The 32-year-old fills the void created after Tim Boon left last month to take charge of the Leicestershire team.

Garaway will join up with the England squad in Loughborough before flying out to India with them on 12 February.

He said: "I really enjoyed my time at Somerset. However, the England job has provided me with a great opportunity to experience cricket at the top level."

Somerset director of cricket Brian Rose added: "We're delighted to be able to provide a coach of the quality and calibre to fill a post with the England team."

Garaway was a wicket-keeper on Hampshire's books from 1996-99 but rarely featured for the first team before moving to Taunton, where he led Somerset's 2nd XI to the championship in 2004.

He took over from Kevin Shine as first team coach at the start of last season, presiding over a largely difficult campaign.

But there was one notable highlight - the Twenty20 Cup triumph - and Garaway has impressed the England hierarchy.

ECB director of operations John Carr said: "He was an outstanding candidate for the job and has all the experience and qualities we were looking for."
