County Championship D2, Derby, day two (close): Derbyshire 500-9 v Gloucestershire 164-5
Derbyshire's seamers left the visitors struggling to avoid the follow-on on a frantic second day in Derby.
Resuming on 313-5, the hosts' lower order took the game away from Glos, Ant Botha's 98 and James Pipe's 53 helping them to 500-9d before tea.
And Tom Lungley took over with the ball, taking three wickets for five runs in 23 balls in a superb spell.
Glos captain Alex Gidman was unbeaten on 42 at stumps but, at 164-5, his side are 187 runs off the follow-on target.
There was little to cheer for the visitors though some impressive spin bowling by Vikram Banerjee saw him finish with a creditable 4-103 off 37 overs.
Botha could have gone for 22 but Stephen Adshead, usually a wicket-keeper but playing only as a batsman in this match, put him down at square leg off Gidman's bowling.
However, Botha's century was not to be as he was run out on 98 by a direct hit from backward point.
