Shining Knight saves Bears
Nick Knight pulls to the boundary
Knight is the first Englishman past 1,000 runs
County Championship, D1, Headingley: Yorkshire 29-1 v Warwickshire 233

Nick Knight became the first English batsman to pass 1,000 runs for the season but it was otherwise a bowlers day at Headingley in the match between Yorkshire and Warwickshire.

Knight dominated the Warwickshire innings with 79 from 119 balls, he became the third man to pass 1,000 runs with Australians Mike Hussey and Darren Lehmann the others.

At lunch, the visitors looked well placed thanks to Knight's effort but when he fell to Chris Silverwood shortly after the interval the innings unravelled.

He was quickly followed by Dominic Ostler (35) who was the only other man to make a significant contribution.

Jim Troughton (19), Dougie Brown (15) and Mo Sheikh (18) all made starts but no other batsmen could capitalise.

Silverwood led the way for Yorkshire picking up three for 49, as Warwickshire finally folded for 233.

In the eight overs left, Yorkshire's batsmen also found things a struggle with Vic Craven falling for four, but Chris Taylor and Anthony McGrath saw them through to the close without further loss on 29 for one.
