Smith powers Windies A
Tour match, Liverpool, day one
West Indies A 355-8 v Lancashire

Devon Smith hit a brilliant unbeaten 167 for the tourists, eclipsing the fine efforts of Ryan Driver with the ball on day one of this four-day match on Merseyside.

Driver's medium pace saw him collect figures of five for 70, but it was Smith who dominated the day.

The 20-year-old from Grenada hit 25 fours in a shade over five hours.

His biggest partnership, of 102, came with Suliemann Benn (31), who, batting at number nine, hit his runs off just 40 balls.

At the top of the order, Chris Gayle, hit a whirlwind 50 off 43 balls before becoming Driver's first victim.
