County Championship D1, The Rose Bowl, day one of four: Sussex 30-2 (10.3 overs) v Hampshire

Hampshire enjoyed the better of the little play possible in their clash with Sussex at the Rose Bowl.

Robin Smith's side claimed two wickets as Sussex put on 30 before a torrential downpour ended proceedings shortly after tea.

Sussex captain Chris Adams was unbeaten on 10 and Michael Yardy six when play was halted after 10.3 overs.

Hampshire got off to a bright start when Alan Mullally had Murray Goodwin (three) caught by Will Kendall before the same fielder struck again to run out Richard Montgomerie for 10.
