Stuart Law has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours List.
The Lancashire batsman, now a British citizen, was recognised for his service to the sport in his native country.
Law captained Queensland to three successive championships - the first man to lead the state to title glory.
"I'm absolutely humbled by the whole thing. To be nominated three years after I left for the United Kingdom is staggering," the 38-year-old said.
"I'm touched that I'm still in their minds after being away for some time - I had some fantastic times with Queensland."
Law was considered unfortunate to play just one Test for Australia, making an unbeaten 54 in his only innings against Sri Lanka in 1995.
