Azharuddin played because of a loophole in regulations

Disgraced former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin returned to high-profile cricket on Sunday, hitting 82 for India Seniors against Pakistan in Karachi.
A loophole in regulations meant he could play in this event despite a life ban for match-fixing involvement.
Pakistan Cricket Board boss Shaharyar Khan watched the match and handed the man of the match award to Azharuddin.
All-rounder Manoj Prabhakar played after serving a five-year ban but Pakistan's Salim Malik was barred.
"Azharuddin is banned from Test and first-class cricket. Veterans' cricket does not fall under any of these two categories," said Chetan Chauhan of the Board for Veteran Cricket in India
