Kenya appoints its first general manager

Kenya's cricket association has named a former football administrator as its first general manager.
The move fulfils a key condition for the country to apply for Test status next year.
Sammy Joel Obingo will work as general manager for a two-year period, chairman Jimmy Rayani confirmed.
Obingo, who starts in the post on May 15, was secretary-general of the Confederation of East and Central African Football from 1994-98.
"Obingo's appointment has the full backing of the
International Cricket Council, " the Kenya Cricket Association said in a statement.
The ICC has laid down several conditions, including getting a full-time chief executive officer, that were necessary for Kenya to meet before it presents an application for Test status next year.
