The West Indies will host the 2007 World Cup

Countries vying to host matches at the 2007 World Cup are meeting in the Caribbean this weekend.
More than 170 delegates from 13 countries, including the United States, Cayman Islands and Bermuda were attending the two-day summit in St Lucia.
Caribbean countries have until 31 January 2004 to submit their applications.
It will be the first time the West Indies have hosted the World Cup.
West Indies have won cricket's showpiece event twice, in 1975 and 1979.
The Caribbean Development Bank has agreed to provide every host country with the
finance required to improve their facilities before the
event.
Rawle Brancker, chairman of the International Cricket Council's cricket
World Cup committee, said: "We feel very confident that we will shock the world by producing the best World Cup ever.
"When we take the number one cricket event and couple it with the
region that we have, I think there is a great opportunity
for us to put on a show that will be hard to beat."
