Deputy Sirett said logistical problems were not unique to the Delhi games

The politician leading Guernsey's team to the Commonwealth Games says he is 'pretty certain' they will go to India. Safety fears and complaints about the athletes' village led to some countries delaying their travel to Delhi, where the event is due to start on 3 October. Deputy Peter Sirett, chairman of Guernsey's Commonwealth Games Association, said "I'm pretty certain we will be going. "At the end of the day, India can not afford to fail." Meanwhile, David Harry, Guernsey's chef de mission, has been inspecting the rooms. He said: "I'm quite certain the team will be adequately accommodated once we have a couple of days sorting things out for them. "It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Given the information we had we were very concerned obviously, but it's not as bad as that." The main body of Guernsey's 42 athletes are due to travel to Delhi on Monday, but a decision is due to be made on Friday as to whether or not they will travel.
