The 5,000m indoor world record set by Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia in January has been ratified by the IAAF.
Dibaba clocked a time of 14 minutes 27.42 seconds at the Boston Indoor Games to break her own world mark.
The 21-year-old - famed for her sprint finish - also set her previous record of 14:32.93 in Boston in 2005.
The bronze medallist in the 5,000m at the 2004 Athens Olympics, Dibaba won both the 5,000m and 10,000m at the 2005
World Championships in Helsinki.
