    Kyle Waddell's rink, ranked 10th in the world, will face the fourth-ranked team led by fellow Olympic silver medallist Ross Whyte in the Scottish Men's Curling Championship final on Saturday.

    Waddell's Stirling rink topped the round-robin on draw shot average to qualify directly to the final after three sides finished with three wins and one defeat.

    Whyte's Lanarkshire rink finished third but defeated Glen Muirhead's Perth rink 9-7 in their semi-final.

    Fay Henderson's reigning women's champions from Dumfries reached their final after winning all four of their round-robin matches.

    They will face Callie Soutar's Forfar rink, who had won two and lost two in the round robin but defeated Tia Laurie's Dumfries side, who won three of their matches, 8-3 in their semi-final.

    Olympians including silver medallists Kyle Waddell and Ross Whyte as well as Fay Henderson will feature at this weekend's event.

    Whyte was the alternate as Team GB men took second place at the Beijing 2022 Games and Waddell was alternate at this year's Games, when Bruce Mouat's rink secured successive silvers for Great Britain.

    Henderson performed the alternate role for the women at this month's event in Italy.

    Whyte, Robin Brydone, Kyle's brother Waddell and Euan Kyle bid for a third successive national title at the Dumfries Ice Bowl while defending champion Henderson will skip a team comprising Hailey Duff, Lisa Davie, Katie McMillan and Laura Watt.
