Wales name five uncapped players for Barbarians

Five players will make their senior debuts for Wales when they take on the Barbarians at Allianz Stadium on Saturday (17:00 BST).

Amy Williams and Kelsie Webster are named in the starting backline, while Stella Orrin, Lucy Isaac and Lily Hawkins are among the replacements.

Kayleigh Powell, who shone at full-back during the Six Nations, gets an opportunity at fly-half, with Lleucu George among a host of Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) players either rested or unavailable for the uncapped fixture.

Seren Lockwood gets the nod ahead of Keira Bevan at scrum-half, while a fit-again Nel Metcalfe starts at 15.

Metcalfe's youngster sister Branwen forms part of a strong-looking pack, which features the experience of Sisilia Tuipulotu, Alisha Joyce, Bryonie King and returning captain Alex Callender, along with Wales' rising star Jorja Aiono.

The game in Twickenham is the second part of a double-header with Wales men facing the Baa-baas at 14:00 BST.

"It's a very exciting team," said Lynn.

"Somebody told me there are 11 under 22s in the squad and why not? We're talking about the next generation. I'm talking about 2029 [the next World Cup] and these individuals.

"I want us as coaches having evidence, but also I'm giving them some experience into the international arena.

"It goes to show where we are from the pathway."

There is no place in the matchday 23 for prop Jenni Scoble, who announced this week that she would hang up her international boots this weekend after struggling to balance a full-time career as a firefighter with the demands of professional rugby.

Wales head into the game looking to end a nine-match losing streak, and centre Courtney Keight says it is important they do not get drawn into the Barbarians' open style of play.

"The Baa-baas definitely play with flair so we have to stick to our processes, we're a very process driven team defensively and in attack so it's trying not to get caught up in the occasion," said Keight.

"These are the kind of things you dream of when you play rugby. It's the big occasions, the big stadiums, double-headers with the men.

"It's just so exciting, especially for some of the young ones coming through. It's just the pinnacle in your career sometimes to play in games like this."

Wales hooker Carys Phillips will create a bit of history when she lines up in the Barbarians side.

She will be following in the footsteps of her father Rowland and the pair will become the first father-daughter duo to play for the Barbarians.

New Zealand star Ruby Tui lines up on the wing in a squad that represents nine different nations and will be captained by Australia forward Emily Chancellor.

"It's been a brilliant week in the heat, and we have been blessed with a wonderful group of people who have bonded amazingly in a short amount of time," said Barbarians women's head coach Susie Appleby.

"Everyone will make a massive contribution on Saturday, and no doubt it will be a great occasion against Wales."
