The Rugby Football League (RFL) is investigating a complaint made by St Helens against Wakefield after Trinity head coach Daryl Powell claimed they had an offer for Saints centre Harry Robertson rejected.
Powell said on Thursday that Wakefield are interested in signing the 20-year-old and made an offer which was "declined" by St Helens.
But in a statement on Friday, Saints said they had received "no contact or communication whatsoever" from Trinity and claimed they would not "entertain any".
"We have reported this matter to The RFL's Compliance Department for their review and, if merited, appropriate action should be taken," a Saints statement added.
The RFL has confirmed that the matter is being investigated.
Robertson has scored 19 tries in 51 appearances in all competitions since breaking into the St Helens side in 2024 and has played in all but two games for the club this season.
He is currently under contract at Saints until the end of the 2028 season.
When asked to respond to rumours suggesting Wakefield's bid for Robertson had been rejected, Powell told BBC Radio Leeds: "There is nothing to clear up, that's true.
"He's a player we're interested in. Who wouldn't be? We really like him and think he's a high quality player."
Wakefield are fifth in the Super League table, one place above St Helens, though both sides are tied on 20 points and separated only by Trinity's superior points difference.
