Cornwall have signed Welsh forward Ewan Badham from Rochdale.

The former Hull FC youngster had been on loan at Cornwall since April but will now stay with the Choughs until the end of the League One season.

He is the second new permanent signing after Callum Abbott - the son of coach Mike - also agreed a deal after impressing in training.

Cornwall have also brought in Hunslet duo Nathan Newbound and Sean Croston on loan until the end of the campaign.

Hunslet will have a 24-hour recall on the pair after the first two weeks of the loan, but all four players could feature when Cornwall travel to fellow strugglers London Skolars on Saturday.

"Bads has given us great options in the middle of the field," head coach Mike Abbott said.

"We've been short in the middle this year due to injuries and other factors, but both Ewan and his brother have been great for us in attack and defence.

Abbott, who is 24, has played amateur rugby in Lancashire and featured for the Cornish Rebels amateur side.

"Callum's situation is an example of a player who has worked hard to get a chance at playing at this level," Mike Abbott added.

"He has been in and around the group for a while now and has done everything that has been asked of him.

Former Leeds and Wakefield academy forward Newbound, 22, joined Hunslet from Midlands Hurricanes this winter.

Centre Croston has played for England at youth level and had time at St Helens' academy, as well as spells at Whitehaven and Midlands Hurricanes.

"Sean gives us cover in the back division, with Coby Nichol serving the second of his two-game suspension," Abbott told the club website, external.

"He came through some good academy systems and has represented his country, too.

"Hunslet are a team that are challenging for promotion with a big squad so Sean coming to Cornwall gives us power in the backs, whilst helping a player with game time.

"It's a similar scenario with Nathan, too. He needs fitness and games after spending some time out injured during the early part of the season.

"Nathan hardly missed a game for Midlands last year and he was a player that did well in the games against Cornwall."
