Penybont manager Rhys Griffiths has been charged with bringing the game into disrepute following post-match comments he made after his side were knocked out of the Welsh Cup by Flint Town United.

Griffiths was angered after Penybont's Chris Venables was sent off after seven minutes of the 0-0 draw that saw Flint advance via a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win.

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) have charged Griffiths for questioning the integrity of the match official, implying bias and using offensive, insulting and derogatory comments likely to cause offence.

The FAW also said they had reviewed Venables' red card and that the match referee, Iwan Griffiths, made the correct decision in sending off Venables for a stamping motion delivered with speed and intensity.

Griffiths, who was a prolific goalscorer in the Cymru Premier League, scoring 248 goals in 342 senior appearances, has seven days to respond to the FAW charge.
