Defender Whitmore in unexpected Solihull return

Defender Alex Whitmore has made a surprise return to Solihull Moors after reversing his decision to leave the club for personal reasons at the end of last season.
The 30-year-old centre-back, who has made over 150 appearances for Moors since his move from AFC Fylde three years ago, announced his departure in April.
Whitmore told the club's website, external: "After a summer speaking with the people closest to me and having an incredible family and such a supportive wife, they helped me understand I needed to enjoy my football.
"This club is the best place for me to do that. I had the most enjoyable time in my career here and I'm really happy that I get the chance to continue – let's hope we can have a successful season together."
Whitmore, who began his career at Burnley before moving on to play in the EFL with Chesterfield and Grimsby Town, was ever-present for Moors in the National League last season.
