Notts County defender Rod McDonald has signed a new one-year contract to remain with the club after promotion to League One.

The 34-year-old featured 26 times for the Magpies last season and started in the emphatic 3-0 League Two play-off final victory against Salford City at Wembley.

He led the side as captain in that promotion-clinching tie, which ensured he marked his 50th appearance for the club in memorable style after joining from Harrogate Town in the summer of 2024.

McDonald, who provided the assist for Lucas Ness to score the second goal against Salford in the final, was offered a contract to stay Meadow Lane along with Lewis Macari - who is yet to commit to new terms.
