Burton Albion have signed forward Matthew Dennis from League One rivals Notts County for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old's 14 goals and two assists for the Magpies last season quickly made him a attacker in demand, with Burton reportedly having a bid for the player turned down, external during the winter transfer window.
Dennis, who counts Carlisle, Rochdale and MK Dons among his former clubs, was just 12 months into a three-year agreement with Notts, and moves to the Pirelli Stadium on a three-year deal that has a further 12-month option.
Despite failing to score in the final two months of the League Two season and consequently falling out of favour for Notts' play-off campaign - having been left out of their two-legged semi-final, as well as the promotion-sealing win against Salford City at Wembley - Burton say they have signed a player they believe can "add to the quality of the group".
"Matty is someone we've been following for a while now," Burton's sporting director Richard Dorman told the club website., external
"He is a player who has played in this division before and has a strong athletic presence."
Burton head coach Gary Bowyer said Dennis would add "genuine pace" and goalscoring nous to his side.
"We want a squad full of players who are hungry to prove themselves, and Matty fits that profile perfectly," Bowyer added.
