Blackpool bring in Charles and Niskanen

League One side Blackpool have brought in Northern Ireland forward Dion Charles on a season-long loan from Huddersfield Town and Ilmari Niskanen on a two-year contract from Exeter City.
Charles, a Blackpool academy graduate, scored four goals in 55 appearances for the Terriers since joining from Bolton Wanderers in January 2025.
Charles, 30, scored 57 goals under current Seasiders head coach Ian Evatt during three years at Bolton and has played 250 times in League One across his career.
"The gaffer knows what I'm about," he told the club website, external.
"He can get the best out of me and I've played the best football of my career under him so it's really exciting times."
Finland international Niskanen, who plays either as a left-back or left winger, spent three years with the Devon club.
Niskanen, 28, played every minute in the Grecians' League One season which ended with relegation on the final day.
A popular player at St James' Park, he now heads north for the next two years, with the option of a third.
"Ilmari will add real energy and quality to our team in a wide area," said Evatt, external.
"I'm thrilled that we have got him in so early on in pre-season and I can't wait to start working with him."
