Birmingham sign ex-Middlesbrough captain Fry

Dael Fry came through the academy at Middlesbrough and his transfer to Birmingham is his first permanent move away from his boyhood club

Birmingham City have signed defender Dael Fry on a three-year contract as their first new arrival of the summer.
Fry, 28, moves to St Andrew's on a free transfer after the end of his deal at Middlesbrough, where he has spent his entire career to date.
He made 296 appearances for Boro across more than 10 seasons, with his time on Teesside only interrupted by a four-month loan at Rotherham in 2015-16.
Fry is a former England Under-21 international and captained Boro last season as their bid to return to the Premier League ended in defeat by Hull City in the Championship play-off final in May.
Although Fry is the first new signing, Blues completed an earlier piece of transfer business last month by turning the loan move of midfielder Jhon Solis into a permanent deal from Gerona on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
