England all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League season with a thigh injury.

Overton, 32, has had an impressive season with Chennai Super Kings, playing in 10 of their 11 matches and taking 14 wickets.

He is also fourth on their run-scorers list with 136, including knocks of 43 not out against Rajasthan Royals and 37 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Overton's next cricket after the IPL is due to be for Surrey in the T20 Blast.

They have seven fixtures between 24 May and 5 June, though Overton would have missed much of that run had Chennai qualified for the play-offs.

The all-rounder retired from red-ball cricket last summer to concentrate on the shorter formats and was part of England's 2026 T20 World Cup squad.

England's next white-ball matches are against India in July.

Overton has been replaced by South African all-rounder Dian Forrester, who has played five T20s for the Proteas and will now begin a planned stint in the Blast with Kent later than planned.

Virat Kohli hit a brilliant unbeaten 105 as Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets to move top of the Indian Premier League table.

Opening the batting, the 37-year-old struck 11 fours and three sixes in his 60-ball innings as RCB chased down their target of 193 with five balls to spare.

Kohli, who was dismissed for ducks in his two previous innings but is still averaging over 50 for the fourth consecutive year, lost opening partner Jacob Bethell for 15 when he was caught and bowled by Kartik Tyagi.

He put on 92 with Devdutt Padikkal (37), before the impact substitute was dismissed by Tyagi, who would later remove Tim David on his way to figures of 3-32.

By that point RCB were in full control of the chase, needing 13 off 13 balls, and Kohli had time to bring up his first hundred of the season, off 58 deliveries, before Jitesh Sharma struck a winning four.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the top-scorer in the KKR innings after they were put into bat, striking 71 off 46 balls from number three.

The wicketkeeper put on partnerships of 68 with Cameron Green (32) and 76 with Rinku Singh (49 not out) and was run out off the final ball of the KKR innings as they closed on 192-4.

The win moves defending champions RCB above Gujarat Titans at the top of the table on net run-rate, while KKR remain eighth after four-match winning streak was brought to an end.

Gujarat Titans moved to the top of the Indian Premier League with a convincing win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Titans, who have now won five matches in a row, bowled out the Sunrisers for just 86 after earlier posting 168-5.

Sai Sudharsan held Titans together with a typically classy 61 off 44 balls, including two sixes into the off side.

Captain Shubman Gill (5) and England's Jos Buttler (7) struggled to make an impact but Washington Sundar's 50 off 33 balls lifted the hosts to a competitive total.

Sunrisers dangerman Travis Head (0) was caught off a leading edge in the first over of the visitors' reply and the destructive Abhishek Sharma followed soon after for just six, bowled by Kagiso Rabada.

From there, Titans were always in control as only four batters reached double figures - Rabada finishing with 3-28 and Jason Holder's variations bringing him three wickets.

It leaves Sunrisers third, two points behind the Titans who face in-form Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match.

Sunrisers' next match is against play-off chasing Chennai Super Kings.

Not one over of spin was bowled as Delhi Capitals beat Punjab Kings by three wickets in Dharamshala in the Indian Premier League.

All 39 of the overs were bowled by pace bowlers across the match, with both captains opting to capitalise on the bounce and seam movement offered by the pitch in the Himalayan foothills, where pace has dominated in recent years.

Only once before - a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings in 2008 which lasted 39.4 overs - has an IPL match included more deliveries bowled by pacers.

A match between Dolphins and Titans in South Africa's T20 competition in 2004, in which all 40 overs were bowled by quicks, is the only other instance of more deliveries being bowled be pace bowlers in a major international or top-level T20 league fixture.

Delhi's fixture was sealed as they chased 211 with an over to spare.

It condemned Punjab, who were the leaders in this year's IPL after going unbeaten though their first seven matches, to a fourth straight defeat.

Delhi were 74-4 in their pursuit before captain Axar Patel and South African David Miller hit quick fifties.

Axar fell for 56 and Miller 51 but Ashutosh Sharma's 24 from 10 balls effectively sealed the win.

It keeps Delhi in contention for the play-offs. They are three points behind fourth-placed Punjab but have played a game more.

England's Jacob Bethell made 26 off 27 balls as Royal Challengers Bengaluru won a dramatic last-ball thriller against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

Set 167 for victory, RCB lost Virat Kohli for a first-ball duck before fellow opener Bethell steadied the ship in Raipur with his highest score of this year's IPL.

Krunal Pandya was the key man from RCB with 73 off 46 balls - striking four fours and five sixes - as he laid the platform for the chase.

MI appeared to be favourites with 15 required off the last over, but Raj Bawa conceded four wides and a no-ball before Bhuvneshwar Kumar clubbed a six.

Rasikh Salam and Bhuvneshwar then scrambled two off the final delivery to secure victory for RCB which means MI cannot make the play-offs.

Earlier Tilak Varma's 57 off 42 balls had earlier helped MI post 166-7 from their 20 overs while Will Jacks made 10 off 10 balls.

Experienced seamer Bhuvneshwar finished the pick of the RCB bowlers with 4-23.

Urvil Patel hit the joint-fastest half-century in the history of the Indian Premier League as Chennai Super Kings claimed a five-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants.

The 27-year-old batter made 65 off 23 balls as CSK chased down 204 for victory with four balls to spare after Jamie Overton had earlier taken 3-36 to be named player of the match.

Urvil shares the record with Yashasvi Jaiswal who made made 98 not out against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in 2023.

Josh Inglis' 85 from 33 had laid the foundation for LSG's first-innings total of 203-8 while Shahbaz Ahmed hammered a brisk 43.

Urvil's record-equalling fifty at number three laid the foundations for what should have been an easy victory for CSK.

But Shahbaz Ahmed (2-30) looked have got Lucknow back in the game with the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad (42) and Urvil.

However, Shivan Dube came out firing, whacking an unbeaten 15 off seven balls and he wrapped up the game with back-to-back sixes as he guided CSK to their sixth win of the season.

Shubman Gill's 84 from 44 balls led the in-form Gujarat Titans to a 77-run thrashing over Rajasthan Royals.

Captain Gill added 118 inside 11 overs with Sai Sudharsan, who made 55, before England's Jos Buttler fell cheaply for 13.

Washington Sundar struck an unbeaten 37 to push Gujarat to an imposing 229-4, with Rajasthan's bowlers conceding 16 in wides.

England's Jofra Archer conceded 46 from three wicketless overs.

Rajasthan were bowled out for 152 in 16.3 overs in reply, with Ravindra Jadeja top-scoring with 38. 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made 36 from 16 balls.

Spinner Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 4-33 and West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder mopped up the tail 3-12.

Gujarat remain second in the table while Rajasthan are fifth.

New Zealander Finn Allen hit a brutal 47-ball century to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to a dominant eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals and boost his side's unlikely push towards the Indian Premier League play-offs.

By hitting the winning runs with a six, Allen finished exactly 100 not out as KKR completed a chase of 143 with 5.4 overs to spare.

He had 20 from 17 balls and, having been dropped on 42 by Tristan Stubbs, was on 45 from 31.

At that stage KKR were 75-2 after 10 overs but Allen, who scored 33-ball hundred in this year's T20 World Cup semi-final, hit eight of his remaining 16 balls for six.

Fifty-five of KKR's remaining 72 runs came off his bat, while the right-hander also scored 83 runs in an unbroken stand of 116 with Australia Cameron Green, who finished 33 not out.

Allen is only the fourth KKR player to score an IPL century, following West Indian Sunil Narine, India's Venkatesh Iyer and fellow New Zealander Brendon McCullum.

Delhi, meanwhile, were strangely meek with the bat.

They were 74-1 in the eighth over but stumbled to 142-8, taking only 11 runs in five overs from the 12th to 16th despite not losing a wicket.

Delhi drop to eighth in the table on eight points and are struggling to make the play-offs with three games to go.

KKR were winless across their first six matches but have now won four in a row.

They have nine points in seventh - three fewer than Royal Challengers Benglauru, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans who are third, fourth and fifth respectively.

England batter Jacob Bethell was dismissed cheaply after an injury scare as Royal Challengers Bengaluru were beaten by bottom-of-the-table Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.

Bethell, whose participation in the tournament has been debated in recent weeks, injured a finger attempting a catch as Mitchell Marsh's century helped LSG pile up 209-3 in 19 overs in between rain delays.

He left the field for treatment but was able to open the batting.

The left-hander made 14, 20 and five in his previous innings at this year's IPL and this time was caught for four from five balls slicing a catch to deep third.

Former captain Sir Alastair Cook was among those to suggest the 22-year-old should be playing county cricket in preparation for England's Test series against New Zealand next month.

Australian Marsh's century came from 49 balls, the fastest by a Lucknow player in the IPL. Their next highest scorer was West Indian Nicholas Pooran with 38.

RCB's target was adjusted to 213 in 19 overs because of the rain but the defending champions lost Bethell and Virat Kohli for a two-ball duck in the first two overs.

RCB needed 91 from the last six overs before hitting from Tim David, Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd kept them in the contest.

They required a further 20 from the last over but managed only 10. Lucknow won by nine runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method to end a six-match losing run.

Lucknow remain bottom of the standings but are now level on points with Mumbai Indians. RCB are third having missed the chance to go top.
