Lovely
pub with a great bunch of locals.
An
old style pub with a lovely landlady, good grub and a drunk constantly
asleep at the end of the bar (think his name is Jim).
Although
a lack of passing trade, not a bad place to have a drink. Just watch
out for the high prices.

Chris and Greg The review (see above) was hard to date : was it from Bev and Gary time, or from Niel and Gaynor time?
Either way, the landlady and her partner are still rather special and the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. We go in regularly and in fact it's a bit of a home from home for us. We come from Lancashire where true local pubs can - we admit - generally be a bit shabby so we don't quite see all the fuss about decor! (So we are plebs - so what?) To me, pubs belonging to franchises or chains all look the same and very dull too. Tired to death of that 'samey look.'
For us, we like a place with true character and a big smile. For us, this local has it.

James It's a good place to watch the footy, the atmosphere for the Portugal game at the end of Euro 2004 was great. The beer is a little steep though.
Michael J Hodgson I haven't been in here for many years. In the 1960s it used to host a Folk Club on Thursday night hosted by the late Tony Capstick. This is what helped him to become so well known.
