The Beer is just as you would expect from a good local.

Atmosphere is great. Very welcoming. It is a large pub. Very clean and well presented. Fires burning that you can sit around. There is a non smoking area should you wish.

The staff are very friendly. The land lady seems to work like a trojan. She has time to chat with you and make you feel at home.

The food is excellent value for money and no long waiting period. You are served at your table. they have quite an extensive menu.

Music is good too. Not too intrusive and quite pleasant , for all tastes. They seem to have various evening activites that change quite regularly.

Overall a really nice pub for food and drink with a warm friendly feel.

The new minimalistic look in the lounge is OK, but gives the place a very cold, hollow, churchlike feel when it's not busy. On a recent visit, I found the 2 guest beers to be of good quality but seriously overpriced. There seem to be plenty of staff milling around doing various jobs, but hardly anyone serving drinks and so it seems to take forever to get served. Having said that, it was quite busy so they must be doing something right.

I just came back to Canada from the UK, I was in the Robin Hood last Saturday night, had a good meal, a bit expensive, but everything in the UK is, but I do like this place and the staff are great.

It's an excellent pub, I'm from Canada and go there when ever I'm in town. Land Lady and Land Lord are great. I used to live at the bottom of the wood, and I must say this place is 100% imoproved from when I used to go there 30 years ago 27/05/05

Lots of strong opinions here, I get the feeling that this place was really something a long time ago. I live quite close and popped in one Sunday on the recomendation of a friend of my partner's. We found the interior to be a bit oppressive and the exterior somewhat unfinished. They had a good guest ale (at an awful price), but nothing else stood out. The folks in charge really need to do soemthing to make the place stand out and give a more friendly atmosphere.

Caitlin - I have been taking my grandchildren on the Halloween walks for six years.

Caitlin Silverwood
Bri darling, I know the Halloween walk hasn't only just started, I went on it before in the early nineties, then they stopped doing it. The reason most of these comments are negative is because they're probably all from the locals who have all the same hang-ups. I'm not local, so I'm probably looking at it from a totally different point of view!

Brian Rhodes
Caitlin - Halloween walk has not just started it has been going for years. You seem in the minority, also it would have been better as flats with the mods inside destroying what the pub was all about. It is losing all its character and becoming on of the yuppy pubs that we all avoid like the plague.

I have given the new owners a chance to find their feet. however enough is enough. Never again, Its the Anvil for me.

Everyone should try the food at the Robin Hood now it's under the new owners. It's excellent and prices aren't too bad. Decor has improved and the beer is good. Having bands on is a good idea too.

Mavis, the pub is better now than ever. When was your last visit Mavis ? The foods great, service the same and never before has the selection of beer been available or tasted as good. Karaoke once a month, live music every other week (and some weekdays) Read the reviews in all the press about the food, it's the best about. I like it alot. PS The pies are the best ever!

Went once. Won't bother again! Mother-in-law booked a table to take us all out for lunch one Sunday. When we arrived we were told there was no booking in her name and maybe she'd got confused and rung a different pub. Okay, she's old but she's not stupid - and the fact that she'd written their number down in her phone book implied differently. The food was okay, the beer was okay. That's about it...

Ditto John Ditto, So sad, So sad, Its a sad sad situation, and its getting more and more absurd. Alf weidersehn Robin. Gone but still in our hearts.

mavis
used to be a lovley pub a few years ago.used to take the grandkids for there sunday lunch,it was always busy but the staff and landlady were alwasys polite and welcoming now the foods rubbish.i will be taking my custom elsewhere

Andrew Green
Are we in the same pub? I never found a fire to sit round, and if you,ve a day to waste you might get served sometime. As for the food I think its shut half the week and overpriced when it's open. Too far to go twice.

Ford Prefect
i dissagy with Terry Winfield some of the old locals wher in tune (not many)

doreen
The karaoke used to be great. The new owners are so far up their own backsides i'm suprised anyone still drinks there. mind you the lad they got to do the karaoke when Dave left was a sexy best. If it hadn't bewen for him we'd have bailed out long ago. Don't eat in the week its petentious crap that'd make Gordon Ramsey squirm. If they want to turn it into flats theyre doing a good job. we'll miss the Robin. but theres no shortage of pubs in Shefield

Terry Winfield
I thought completely the opposite of this review. It may have been an one-off but I found the place very clicky and they seemed to have lots of old out of tune locals doing karaoke!
