"Let's
do the timewarp again!"
This
pub is stuck in a glorious 80s rut. Complete with 70s and 80s prog
rock jukebox, it couples one of the friendliest landladies I've
ever met with a decent selection of beer and a refreshingly untouched
interior.
If
the Bull died and went to heaven, his heaven would look something
like this.
I understand
that it's what's called a "conservation pub" - ie one
that's free from being converted into a big theme nightmare.
I'd
like to meet the chap or lass that invented the conservation pub,
and shake them by the hand.
What
a wonderful service to the community they've provided.
M Toad Don't let the 'prog rock' tag put you off - the White attracts a mix of all different people and ages. It has old fellas, trendies, chavs, punks, rockers and 'normal' folk - all mix well and it has a good atmosphere.
The pub features guest ales, and has a good selection of spirits, wines, lagers and beers. It does have one pool table, a darts board, and has live bands every Thursday, a karaoke night on the last Saturday of the month, and the weekly quiz on a Sunday.
The jukebox isn't that bad. It contains a wide range of music from the 60's onwards to chart toppers of the present day.
All in all, a top boozer that should suit everyone.
Charles And don't forget to mention the live music events on Thursdays and on Fridays! And the pool tables at the back. The whole layout deserves an award! The interior! And above all the friendly regulars!
AMY I agree with the review about the pub. I have been in the pub many times and the staff are very friendly and efficient and the landlady is lovely too.
Steve The White Lion has always been a good Pub. I used to go in a lot 20 years ago when Dave Tollerfield was the Landlord. Seems the jukebox hasn`t changed much, which is a good thing. Ah,memories of a long lost youth.

Very much agree with the review, this one is a gem.
Only thing you haven't commented on is the existence of a No Smoking
room (in common with several other enlightened establishments in
the City).
No Smoking rooms are always full, so why aren't they more common?
