A decent enuff chav free pub, with plenty of real ales on offer. Similar environment to a dungeon however stone floors, dark etc.

tut n shive was rok n roll at xmas and the duke box still has the great classics. tut also has the best looking barmaids!!!!!

The tut is the best,theres always someone you know in there, its the place to chill out and listen to decent music!way better than any other pub cos its the same music 7 days a week, baileys (spiders web)is only really decent on a tues an now sometimes not even then, since arubas quid drinks promotion aruba everyones everyones kind of abandoned it

Its a shame that Donny is so narrowminded it should look at sheffield which has loads of Tut style pubs and a far better Culture. Hope Donny changes soon before its too late. Wise up sheep followers and dance music heads.

The tut is one cool pub where used to meet all my mates everytime before i went out. Needed to get good music before all the darlek music started in trilogy. Tuesday's are class.Dressing like u want is cool. All donny people shud go to manchester cos topman, and enrico jean company..well speaks 4 itself. Glad to be out of towny donny but miss the tut..role on xmas.

What the hell is a sweaty?? Yeah yeah I aint stupid cause I know what we think one is.. but surely this is just people being shallow minded my self I am not into all ya big baggy sweaters and jeans but that does not mean these people should be classed as sweaty's there just people enjoying being there selves. As for the stripy jumper and rockport brigade well if ya wanna go spend all that money to make ya self look like something HARD go ahead you merely look quite SCRUFFY it just goes to show that the so called SWEATY'S have a dedicated night for their kind of music at the TRILOGY!!!! i used to drink in the 'tut' all the time, but cant any more as it is not wheelchair friendly, besides the custom base was shifting to wards the thugs and has always been sports orientated, hense the big screen, i do miss the land lord nick, and the bar staff, but the old locals i see regularly at the # 1 rock bar in doncaster, the hallcross, the only thugs you need to worry about in there ane the smart dressed set returning from a day at the races, but they soon clear out once the music starts.

Iv never been to the tut n shive before, but i have looked up the pub (which is how i found this) as im going to visit it in a few weeks, im looking forward to it as it seems you dont get 'rockport waring' mindless thugs there, this seems like a pub for freethinkers not no 'thinking robots' that thinks fighting makes you tough. Its a shame there are not more pubs and bars like this one... ps: if your thinking of insulting me by commenting on my poor grammer, dont bother i all ready know i have crap grammer...

the tut actually has a mix of people. alternative people go there, but actually the rockport and stone island sporting lads or well welcomed regulars !

I would like to reply to mr Williamson who seems to think that us students are scruffy. I'm a student at Doncaster college and take great pride in my personal appearance. I wear the clothes I do, to be different instead of the stereotypical young thug with stripey jumper, rockports and burberry cap. I don't wear my clothes because I'm saving the price of a pint, I'm making a statement "I'm an individual, I thnk with my own mind and decide what I want to do". I choose what I want to wear not what somebody says everyone should wear, if they told you a bright green tu tu with pink rigger boots and white socks was fashion would you wear it? probably because you are narrow minded and do not have the confidence in yourself to wear what you want to. Although I agree it's a good pub and a nice pint, it's the arrogance of customers like you that spoil it for the rest of us.

In reply to what Steve W says about the hostility towards students, I don't see this as being true at all. The comments made have absolutely nothing to do with peoples educational preferences merely their dress sense. Now I'm no fashion guru, in fact far from it, but it seems to me that to become a student you have to make yourself look as scruffy as possible and wash as little as possible. The tut is indeed an excellent watering hole and I myself have had many a good pint on the premises, but I often wonder why the regulars in the tut cannot afford to buy clothes for more than a pound an outfit, maybe it's time to drop the price of a pint to smarten up the punters?

The tut is rubbish it is full oftax dodging student and as steve w says so called free thinkers more like freaks if you dont wear something nicked from a tramp or bought from a charity shop your the one who looks weird.

Good review. The reader comments may give you an idea of the hostility towards students and free thinkers in provincial england. There must be an element of jealousy. I wish it was not this way. But the pub is good. The juke box is a bit old fashioned and needs updating with some good heavy rock like Boris or Hidden Hand but other than that you got it spot on. Don't forget the leopard pub down the road either!

its ok... but spiders web is better.. cheaper booze and that but it does have that rock atmosphere and imformality i like... i usual go meet up with irwin from fake ideal there or geoff from bright paper wherewolves... but it only lets bands on for 20 mins at a time which is a bit shady.. i much perfer spiders... by the way how come spiders is not on here?? is it because its a bar not a pub or something.. thanks very much dave

i think the people who talk down this lovely little pub are crazy, i used t obe a student but that doesnt make me a sweatty, i meet my old work mates in there every other friday and i cant imagine meeting them anywhere else that has the same atmosphere!
