The
Walkley Cottage is everything you could want in a local. Several
real ales kept very well, friendly and welcoming, with a varied
bunch of customers.
The
food is however its main attraction, freshly cooked, big portions,
good menu and well liked enough for people to have to book on Sundays.
No
loud music, conversation seems to be more important. Big snooker
table in smaller bar, garden at the back, benches at the front.
95 bus stops outside.
Just
a first rate pub.

Alex - Barnehurst, Kent, DA7 Great pub without intrusive music; friendly pub staff - pity I dropped my mobile down the toilet there once.
Regards,
Alex.
daz + mel of hillsborough a very freindly pub and a good kept pint and the mixed grill is well worth six quid of any ones money by far
Geoff A superb example of what a pub should be like. Bill hit the nail on the head there, you couldn't ask for a better example to show to your foreign friends of the british pub life, sadly though, it's the only good example for miles around and other pubs should take note and aim for this kind of publican perfection.
Bill A small but very well-kept selection of good beers - somebody here obviously takes pride in this. Conversation-friendly as your reviewer says. Kind of place to take overseas friends to show them what an English pub is/was/should be.
