By
far Crookesmoor’s busiest pub, The Hadfield has recently become
even more popular for dropping its prices considerably.
Anyone
familiar with "Mr. Q’s" pubs won’t be surprised to learn that it’s
bristling with TV screens, games machines, pool tables (three of
them), and indiscriminate loud music/decor.
The
Hadfield is usually lively, friendly, and entertaining, and serves
decent cheap food, but the noise, heat, and overcrowding at busy
times (especially when there’s football on the big screens) make
it anything but the obvious choice for those seeking a quiet relaxed
drink.

Sagalout This pub has had a facelift over the summer and has become a much smarter outfit. The pub is no longer overcrowded and noisy, however it still remains cheap for both food and drink. I'd recommend it to anyone whether a student or not as the atmosphere is fun and welcoming.
Nick Hayne Yeah, pretty accurate reviews. Good if your a student out with mates, but deadpan over summer/winter breaks.
David Maloney I would add only that the pub is seasonably variable in how busy it can be. A quiet July, August and January reveal the dominance of students amongst its patrons. At these times, Master O'Neill might indeed find his statement above to be proved ludicrous and empty by the stillness and the almost zen calm the bare pub offers.
ShefBloke Pub is ok if you like standard towny beer.
