What's
the grub like, then?
Our family of five arrived for Sunday lunch. It was very quiet which
should have been a warning sign.
After ordering drinks at the bar we were told that there was a 'special'
menu for Sundays ie quite limited. The menu asked us to look on
the chalk board for the 'catch of the day' and the days specials.
After asking the bar staff we were told that there were none available
so we chose from the limited sunday menu.
Our food arrived relatively quickly but none of the kids meals had
the beans that had been ordered. This was mentioned to a waitress
who said she would bring some shortly. Our two main meals of Andalusian
chicken were average, the veg cold and the potatoes boiled to within
an inch of their lives. The kids never got their beans. For just
under £40 it represented very poor value for money and I can
understand why it was quiet now.
What
did you drink?
Pint of cider, glass of chardonnay and three kids drinks. All acceptable-£6.90
What's
the crowd like?
There were two families, a couple and two students.
And
the vibe?
Very quiet, too quiet.
Value
for money?
Total bill came to £37.30. This was not good value for money.
What's
your name?
Mrs A Shirtcliffe
What's
the grub like, then?
Although it was mothers day so it was just the sunday lunch menu
there was a good choice and the food was fantastic, it was freshly
cooked not frozen rubbish and it was well presented.
What
did you drink?
1 larger and 1 Shiraz Red Wine, both very nice
What's
the crowd like?
The clientele was a great mixture from couples to
large family tables
And
the vibe?
The atmosphere was great there was a constant buzz of conversation
and everyone was in high spirits, it almost seemed like christmas.
All the staff where extremley freindly and nothing was to much trouble.
Value
for money?
The meal and drinks cost £35.70, it was great value as it
was 3 courses plus coffee.

rosie men it was gud but bit tastless the staff wee fit but the food was not at all wat we expected
Andy and Eleanor James The Fulwood Inn is truely lovely. The rooms have all been redecorated to a very high standard and to modern tastes. We only stayed for one night, mores the pitty and we intend to return in the spring. If you want somewhere nice to stay in Sheffield, go to the family run Fulwood Inn and Hotel. Go on, treat yourself!
Nicholas Kilby (Fulwood Inn Bar Manager) The Fulwood Inn Changed hands in February 2004. It is no longer owned by a brewery and this means that the food is no longer prepackaged, manufactured or microwaved. Everything is now prepared fresh in the kitchen (our freshly cut chips always being praised). I joined the staff as a bar man in april last year and have watched the clientele grow and grow. The food is becoming ever more popular with a wide bar and restaurant menu and an ever changing and diverse selection of specials. Sunday lunch is widely praised and has become a bustling yet relaxed environment to spend a sunday afternoon. The staff have changed massively after the change of hands and we now employ a very bright, young and enthusiastic team that work to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Again I cannot stress how much The fulwood inn has changed and am confident that the reputation we now have as a friendly, relaxed, quality establishment will grow and grow.
Rebecca Baverstock Fantastic! We were there when there was a private function on but the rest of the pub was invited too-great food with loads of choice. the pub was packed with all ages and had agreat atmosphere.
Nick Hayne Heh, I was in that Mothers Day when Mrs. Shirtcliff was. Not a bad pub, the new management and the influx of new staff over the past year have helped turn things around from what was an overpriced, undervalue pub. Still a little steep for the average student they do do some Thwaites beers and some german lagers. Sky TV for match days and a mixed jukebox for entertainment - take some friends along but if your on a session dont stay long or your wallet will empty!
julie smith Well it's not like this now!
It's extremely friendly and the staff polite and efficient. Food is also very good as well
Cliff Parker I too had the misfortune of having Sunday Lunch at the Fulwood Inn. A most disappointing experience. The menu is limited and the food uninspiring. The staff are poorly trained and seem to lack motivation. If this is what it is like under new management then expect it to change hands again in the very near future! I will not be going back.
Disappointed We visited the Fulwood Inn yesterday teatime having seen the large sign outside the pub saying food served all day. They actually start serving in the evenings at 6pm which was no good to us as we had made a special journey there and it was only 4.30pm
BBC South Yorkshire We have been informed that The Fullwood Inn is under new ownership and the menu is currently being changed and new chefs employed.
