Cheap
and cheerful, the Firkin (on the Fulwood Road) is a fairly obvious
chain pub, with plenty of offers on drinks more or less all the
time.
With
cheap beer and cheaper food, it's pretty much student dominated,
but the vibe is always pretty good, with people generally more focused
on enjoying themselves than on worrying whether they fit in or not.
The
food is the real bonus here, though; as for a paltry amount, a veritable
feast will be laid on for any hungry passer by.
A huge
screen is also to be seen in permanent use here, showing every type
of sport you can think of, be it the football, the cricket, or a
bit of wrestling.
Likeable,
but extremely samey if you are a chain-pub regular.

Rich Much less of a chain pub feel now its back to its original name, the Nottingham House. They're working on making the place a music venue; not sure this is a great idea as the ceiling is very low, but you do occasionally get some good acts on in the open mike nights.
The food is exceptional for the price, I can especially recommend the fry up breakfasts on a Sunday.
Good vibe; I really like this pub.
Sean This is the pub on Threads...
