This
busy sandwich counter in Orchard Square (theres also a branch
on Glossop Road) reminds me of what an American sandwich bar might
be like. Lots of yummy fillings laid out under a counter - point
and choose, and watch your lunch be constructed before your very
eyes.
If
they would let a cow and a bull travel Economy to NYC, then I might
be able to confirm that. As it is, its the closest Ill
get to the Big Apple.
So
I felt inspired to try the pastrami and pickle. I added mustard
and a sesame roll, and felt very Sex in the City. Without the Manolos.
(They dont sell them in a Size 5 Hoof.)
It
was nice. Really quite nice. The prices are good, too. The hot roast
pork looked pretty tasty, and the queue implied a band of loyal
followers.
I
went back another day for another pastrami combo - they forgot the
pickle but it was still nice.
I returned
again, and added cream cheese to the sandwich. Bingo! One of my
current favourite lunchtime bites was born.
I
wouldnt object if they made the sandwiches a little bigger,
but for a city centre joint its refreshingly down to earth.
david smalley superb, always fresh, I have been through the entire menu several times ,highly recomend the roast pork sandwiches there to die for.
dave elliot reveiw was accurate, always fresh ingredients and service with a smile
Sarah Brilliant place!! Try the mixed chicken and mayo on a spud - it's heaven!!!!
A2 Erm, think some of the other reviewers have been sauteeing those strange mushrooms again, but agree that this "sandwicherie" is a good place. Food is wonderfully fresh and you also get a Loyalty Card which entitles you to a free sarnie. This said, Sheffield still lacks imagination with the fillings available, but Deli-Shuss is better than most.
Professor Gerrard I gererally tend to be quite busy throughout the day, but appreciate both quality and service that a lunchtime deli bar has to offer - and this place satisfies my user requirements.....Moooo from me !!
Big Ken I think the Doctor is spot on with his review perhaps we should do lunch here and go through the menu together while talking the merits of FI-CA over a cheese muffin.
I only wished we had this back home in Germany
Dr David Heseltine Very accurate. I have been a user for some time and whilst the sandwiches are always of a high standard, the baked potatoes can only be described as white hot. Full Moo's from the Doctor.
Henry Ellis Good review. I enjoyed the brandade with helios pickles and the ham cut with chalopine nuts, fantastic combination. Goa egg spice gives pep to the cheese muffins and the atelier honey makes the houmous very special! Great
