What's
your name?
Alex
Where
is it?
226 Abbeydale Road
Sheffield
S7 1FL
What's
the number? 0114
258 1483
What's
the grub like, then?
Simple, build your own, super-tasty Italian sandwiches. A variety
of amazing cheeses, meats, pestos, salad and other toppings piled
into freshly toasted ciabatta rolls. I can recommend the Buffalo
Mozzarella with tomato and Balsamic vinegar. Or the Parmiagano with
pesto rucola. Or the Pecorino with pesto pommodoro. You get the
picture. Go and find your own favourite combination. And then there's
the Ice Cream... You have to go for the ice cream alone. Dare I
say it - the best ice cream in Sheffield?
What
did you drink?
Freshly squeezed orange juice (fantastic) and an espresso - excellent.
What's
the crowd like?
A good mix of people who live and work in the area. The local Italian
community frequent it, too, which can only be a good sign.
And
the vibe?
It's great. It's only a small place, and it's also a deli (all imported,
hard to find Itallian food) and a take away, so it can be crowded
- or maybe that should be cosy. But Matt, the proprietor, and his
staff are really friendly. It's one of those rare places where strangers
feel comfortable talking to each other.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
It's what this stretch of Abbeydale Road has been waiting for!
Value
for money?
It is good value - depending on how elaborate your sandwich is,
the price can be between £2 and £3.50. A simple coffee
is only a pound, posher coffee slightly more.

Gemma Artichoke pie was delicious!!!Would definietly recommend it as well as the great atmosphere and friendly service.Lots of nice goodies on the shelves to look at and buy...get yer sen down there now duck!!!
Hairy Mary This is a little gem of a cafe/deli combo. The food is lovely and fresh. The prices are sensible. Space is a problem, but that sort of adds to the rustic charm of the place somehow, and yes, there is a community feel - people come to eat and chat not to see and be seen.
Knocks spots off posy pants Nonnas!

Antonio I have lived in Italy for the past 20 years and have a good understanding of quality Italian cuisine. Unfortunately I found the selection and quality of foods distinctly average and disappointing. I did not feel the atmosphere was warm and homely as I do when in Italy and felt the service was abrupt and unhelpful. Sorry, not sure what the fuss it about.
Karl The quality of food is superb. I had a simple salad here last week - the freshest, tastiest thing I've had when eating out for ages. 15/08/05
Bernard As a frequent traveller to Italy I must commend Matt on the quality of his food. I have longed to find an establishment outside of Italy offering truly authentic staple Italian food and it doesn't get any better than this.
irooney Going to put my neck on the line here...the most friendliest retail experience in the North, infact anywhere I've been. (London take notes) Its like the real 'Cheers' bar in a Italian deli / coffee bar format. Its a shame there is only one of them...but then again that's the beauty. Keep up the great work Bragazzi's and let the streets taste your meats.
Alex (again) Almost a year on, I wanted to add that Bragazzi's has finally expanded... now twice its original size (so officially cosy rather than cramped) with tables/chairs and sofas, and an expanded menu of salads and cakes - all worth investigation... So now it's even better for hanging out with a coffee, and not going back to work. 08/06/05
AJ A gem! Real food, simply prepared. Good coffee, all the newspapers and a staff who take pride in what they do. Amazing to find a place that’s still willing to put quality before speed. It’s definitely worth waiting. Try the warm apple tart with coconut ice-cream, sod the diet! Quietens down from 2-4, great place to watch the world go by!
Major Best kept secret in Sheffield. Try the saffron-infused Pecorino, with whole black peppercorns - amazing!
G Willi yes the sarnies are fab! my fave is tuna with basil pesto.
but there is also the fresh pasta , huge juicy olives and shelves of olive oil, pesto etc etc yum.

Steve Priest Fantastic Real Food, great coffee, Good people.
Chester Not only the best ice cream, but the best sarnies and the best coffee in Sheffield. Period. And I must agree, Matt is quite the culinary guru. And it looks to be expanding too, which can only be good for the lucky people of Abbeydale Road. Buonissimo!
Eddie Limoncello to die for, made to Matts grandmothers recipe. Nuff said
Hilary You didn't mention that, on top of the unfeasibly good food, friendly service and that warm, cuddly feeling of good old-fashioned community you get from just walking in the door, Matt et al are a mine of culinary information and advice. Not only will they sell you the food, they'll be able to tell you how to cook and serve it, or suggest new ways to try things. And yes - the ice cream. I'm not a big ice cream fan, but the strawberry and cream combo has to be tasted to be believed.
