What's
the grub like, then?
Been to Vijays several times (why I don't know) except it's en route
back to the Hotel. The food is blandness itself and is TOTALLY lacking
in any flavour.
What's
the crowd like?
No doubt first timers!
And
the vibe?
Interior is plush and promises quality that is not delivered on.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
Why are there so many poor Curry houses in Sheffiled - don't the
locals have the stomach for spice?
Value
for money?
price average, but poor VFM given taste-free curry (how do they
do it?)

the crowd like?
Excellent, very friendly, including the manager who always has the
time of day for you.
And
the vibe?
Very laid back and relaxed, and very plush interior.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
They do a wide variety of dishes to suit everyone, plenty of vegetarian
dishes too.
Value
for money? Very good, about £30 for a starter and main course plus
drinks for the two of us.

Rick Vijay's is just a fast food curry house - 1 word EVEREST the best as ever
Rob of Derbyshire I have to agree 100% with Moorfoot Mike the service is shocking, the food is worse and to add insult to injury they don't aplogise for significant delays, wrong orders etc. Oh and the Chicken Balti is well below average tasteless beyond comprehension.
Nigel & Sarah Would strongly have to disagree with the above comments by Moorfoot Mike. We have tried numerous Indian restaurants in Sheffield, including Sahibs which we thought the two dishes we had there tasted very bland and exactly the same, and bearing in mind one was supposed to be madras and the other a bhuna, OK!! Vijay's however is a totally different kettle of fish, the food is excellent, and unlike some people seem to believe a good curry doesn't have to burn your gob out. In fact genuine Indian food is not over hot anyway, the dishes here are fantastic, unlike some curry houses which smother the small amount of crap meat that's in the dishes to kill off the rank taste. Vijay's on the other hand gives a very generous portion of good quality meat in a very tasty sauce, (no matter which dish you have), and we have tried most here. The staff are very friendly and we have got to know a couple of them very well from going for several years. All in all, I would definately have to say this is the best Indian restaurant in Sheffield, and well worth a visit.. Try the chicken Balti.. FANTASTIC!!!
