What's
your name?
Mat
Where
is it?
Taste of India, 133 - 135 Bradfield Road, Sheffield, S6
What's
the number? 0114
233 1332
What's
the grub like, then?
The food here was fine, perhaps not the most extensive menu in the
area, but what there is isn't all that bad. A tasty and generous
portion for the main courses accompanied by nice soft naans and
decent sundries. Nice, nice, nice.
What
did you drink?
The house red came in a quite impressive bottle and made a nice
change from the ubiquitous curry-house lager.
What's
the crowd like?
On the Friday night that my dining companions and myself popped
along here there were a few couples and a large party. As the night
went on the after-pub curry conessiours arrived and the place got
very busy.
And
the vibe?
Friendly, but as you might expect in Hilsborough both the staff
and clientele had no heirs about them at. Down to earth in the purest
sense of the term.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
This is a relativly small restaurant without a no-smoking policy
and if you have big issues with smokers then you should consider
this before popping along for a chicken tikka jalfrazi.
Value
for money?
The meal for four with a main course and sundries came to £44.40.
But it was the two bottles of house wine (about £7 each) that really
pushed the price up.
TN
I've only eaten-in at Taste of India once and it was just what you'd expect - polite, good service. We get takeaways regularly though and the veggie food is great - you can get main dishes as side dishes and vice versa, and usually if you ask for something not on the menu they'll do that for you too. Very accomodating, and lovely food. My only criticism is never believe when they say your takeaway will be ready in 20 minutes - it's always more like 40. But it IS worth waiting for!
