What's
your name?
Mat
Where
is it?
Tajak, Commonside, Sheffield
What's
the grub like, then?
Tajaks are capable of producing a dish that is little different
when it arrives on a plate in the restaurant from when it arrives
on your doorstep in a tin-foil container in the hands of their takeaway
service. That being said the quality of the cuisine is not bad and
the naan bread is as good as any, but the bizzare rice that seems
to have grains every colour of the rainbow is a source of constant
amusement.
What
did you drink?
A bottle of red wine that was quite palatable but not that memorable.
What's
the crowd like?
The Tajak tends to attract the devoted curry monsters from the surrounding
area, so don't expect musings on the Kirov ballet in the background.
And
the vibe?
Though small, the Tajak has a nice atmosphere and you tend to come
away thinking that you'd like to go back some time in the future.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
There are definately better Indian restaurants in the city centre,
but you could do a lot worse than the Tajak in the surrounding area.
Value
for money?
A meal consisting of starter, main course and drinks for two will
usually come to around thirty pounds. You could pay a lot more for
slop and gruel in a more pretentious establishment.
Chris and Ellen Where has it gone? We have seen no signs of life for about a year and a half now
Ed Smith Seems now to have closed. A big shame, as it was one of the best (and cheapest) curry houses in the area!
Suzy I agree with e review on Tajak's, in commonside in sheffield. They have the ability to produce very good eat- in, but rather less spectacular take-out.
