What's
the grub like, then?
The variety and range of exciting salads on the menu are what first
attracted my partner and I to dine at Pizza Express in Meadowhall,
Sheffield. However, after waiting over half an hour to have our
order taken the service and food told a different story.
I ordered
a mixed leaf salad and my partner ordered garlic bread with mozzarella
for starters.
There
were no cutlery on the table at first and after our starters were
brought to the table I was introduced with a knife containing dried-on
pizza base. This was changed after another five minutes when I finally
got the attention of a waitress.
My
salad looked nice and had a pleasant dressing, however, half way
through eating it I found something on my plate that I cannot describe
other than the fact that it looked like a squashed slug. Of course
I could not finish my starter. When the waitress finally came to
our table three-quarters of an hour later I drew the slug-like object
to her attention in which she replied "I don't know what it
is" and simply carried the plate away without any apology.
For
the main course I had a margherita pizza and my partner had pancetta
salad. These were nothing special.
We
decided to skip dessert as we had seen the customers on the next
table waiting over half an hour for theirs.
I most
certainly will not be returning.
What's
the crowd like?
Mixed clientele including couples and families.
And
the vibe?
The atmosphere was not bad. You can have a conversation without
being overheard easily.
Value
for money?
The bill came to £21.60 in total, this being the cheapest
meal I have had for a while however the quality reflected that.

Roo I had the pasta with sausage, however I only found 1 piece of sausage. Really disappointing. But the dessert was fab, I had the chocolate sundae with Baileys. Delish.
Sheila Agree - food was good, but service awful. I could see the food preparation area, but couldn't see anyone receiving the finished product! A shame, as other Pizza Expresses give excellant service.
Jim I agree the service is pretty much non-existant, but some of the pizza is fantastic, and very cheap. I like the fact there's one on Division St, therefore drinks afterwards are easy to get to.
