What's
your name?
Annie
Where
is it?
19 Charles Street,
Sheffield
What's
the number? 0114
275 6041
What's
the grub like, then?
Fantastic! Really good value and plenty - I haven't made it to pudding
yet, and believe me, I've tried! They have set menus and a la carte
too with all the dishes you would expect, but they specialise in
Dim Sum so the starters are a particular treat. I recommend the
blackbean dishes - they've got a bit of a kick of chilli that gets
you all tingly.
What
did you drink?
House red wine was very drinkable and they seemed to have a good
selection.
What's
the crowd like?
It's quite a quiet place, but word needs to be spread. Good mixture
of casual chinese diners (always a good sign) and others in for
the long haul!
And
the vibe?
Quiet and friendly. The staff were really useful to point out if
they thought we'd ordered too much or with suggestions on what to
try. We weren't rushed in eating either, and so it's quite a nice
place to go with a group of friends and have a social get together.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
Bit of a secret, this place - it's underground so you don't tend
to notice it, but I'm telling all my friends, it's the best chinese
I've found in Sheffield yet...
Value
for money?
They've just introduced a couple of set menus for £8.90 or
£10.90 as well as more expensive options, which is amazing
value, plus if there's something you don't like, they'll swap it
for something at a similar price for no extra charge. I think it's
a much better option than any of the buffet places in town, and
works out very favorably priced.

Kerry I've only been the once but I'm certainly going back! Yummy food, fab friendly service (Indeed they will tell you when they think you have ordered too much!! ha) Would recommend!! =)
sue very good tried the resturant last night
Hannah and Mark We've been going to Meis for the past 5 years and agree that the quality and quantity are outstanding. Not only is the friendly service in the restaurant excellent but the delivery and takeaway service is equally as impressive. Definitely the best Chinese restaurant in Sheffield!
collette bolton went there last night! Absolutely amazing excellent service value for money and beatiful food id reccommend the salt and pepper chicken for starters! even the wine was good and i am not a big white wine fan! a must go
Kay I agree with the review. I love going to Mei's. Take your friends, get a big round table and try lots of dishes. The duck is the best I have tasted. (and I have tried them all!)
Jennifer Hunter I'm glad Annie enjoyed Meis. It is a hidden treasure, I've been going for the last 14 years. There is also a Chinese menu, albeit it written in Chinese script, but if you ask for a translation from Mei she will oblige and the dishes are subtly different from the expected Anglo/Chinese dishes.
Dont too many people rush down there now, bec what makes it so lovely is that it is quiet and you definitely don't feel like you have to eat and run. Try the DIM SUM on Sundays, you wont believe the variety its amazing.
