What's
your name?
Mat
Where
is it?
La Vida Loca, 560-562, Langsett Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield
What's
the number? 0114

What's
the grub like, then?
The menu consisted of the usual suspects for an Italian/Latin American
establishment. The mixed seafood stater went down well with prawns,
fry and calamari and the Chicken Fajitas supplied with a generous
and diverse side salad were very nice. The verdict on the salmon
from my good lady was also positive.
What
did you drink?
Bottle of Chianti that was pleasant enough.
What's
the crowd like?
Nothing out of the ordinary, your average person in the street.
And
the vibe?
Quiet at first and later getting a nice hum of conversation. My
one gripe was that the guy behind the bar swapped a nice classical
piece for Ricky Martin and then proceeded to play DJ all night,
chopping and changing as the mood took him. Some of the CDs jumped
all over the place as well.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
If you can, ignore the constant playing around with the background
music and the waiters singing along when the mood takes them.
Value
for money?
The whole meal, a shared starter, two main courses and a shared
desert with a bottle of wine came to a reasonable £38.00.

What's
the grub like, then?
Without exception, every visit here has been delicious!
Most
recently, my friend and I sampled prawn and avocado salad and the
mushrooms stuffed with stilton, spinach and bacon for starters.
The
juicy prawn and buttery avocado salad melted in my mouth, although
the roasted pepper mayo tasted suspiciously similar to Marie Rose
sauce...
My
friend's generously stuffed mushrooms were spellbindingly appetising
and I was disappointed that I was unable to have them without the
bacon.
For
the mains, my friend had beef fajitas (served with fries and salad)
and I had a vegetarian calzone.
The
beef fajitas arrived at the table on a sizzling platter. My friend
assured me that the beef was succulent, tender and sympathetically
seasoned.
My
calzone was a monster! I couldn't finish it all (a first for me).
The pizza dough was indescribably delicious and it was stuffed full
of delicious veg. It was topped off with a rich tomato sauce and
parmesan cheese and served with a crisp, fresh mixed salad.
Needless
to say, there was no room for dessert!
What
did you drink?
Tap water-free of course! On previous occasions I have tried the
house wine, which is moderately priced and ok.
What's
the crowd like?
Mixed families, groups and couples
And
the vibe?
Relaxed, friendly and informal
Anything
else you'd like to say?
The menu is quite limited, especially if you don't eat meat!
Value
for money?
Amazing value for money and quality of food-only £24 for our
2 courses.
Emma I totally agree with the above, went on Sraurday night the food was excllent had the beef fajitas. The only thing is for a Saturday night it was relatively empty so perhaps lacked a bit of an atmosphere!!!
Tamarind Lord Eaten there often as starter for a night out aswell as somewhere to take the parents on visits to Sheff. Reasonable prices, always friendly service, the food has never disappointed yet, but have had a few instances of dishes not being availble. Excellent value and meal for price range. :)
