What's
your name?
David
Where
is it?
La Civetta
92 Middlewood Rd
Sheffield
S6 4HA
What's
the number? 0114
231 6880
What's
the grub like, then?
The menu presents a good selection of pastas, pizzas, steak and
chicken and also offers an extensive specials board.
What
did you drink?
We ordered the house wine, which turned out to be very acceptable,
reasonably priced and had the added bonus of being a litre bottle!
What's
the crowd like?
A mix of couples, parties and families and children are very welcome.
And
the vibe?
Friendly and welcoming and the owner usually stops to have a chat
with his customers.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
La Civetta is in Hillsborough and translates as "The Owl"
but United fans shouldn't worry that it might be draped in blue
and white and a shrine to all things Wednesdayish.
The
restaurant is larger and more tastefully decorated than your average
pokey trattoria (apart from the large collection of model owls on
display) but it still has a friendly, intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
The
owner is Italian and like all the best Italian restauranteurs he
bustles about dividing his time between overseeing the kitchen and
chatting to his customers, many of whom are established regulars
and always the sign of a good restaurant.
Value
for money?
3 courses for 2 with wine will cost you around 45 to 50 quid.

Andi Been going to La Civetta since it opened, probably go once a month on average and have yet to have a bad experience. The food is always excellent, well presented and in generous portions, the atmosphere is welcoming and lively without being overly loud and the owner is always genuinely pleaseed to talk to his customers and ensure you are enjoying your visit.
Derek Awful Awful Awful. Nasty processed food. People who like this place have never eaten real Italian
Maz Never fails to please. Early evening tends to be families who are welcomed just as warmly as the couples and groups who eat later. House wine is excellent value for money and the specials are always a treat. Can't wait to go again. Aug 2005
Dave Terrible. Expensive nasty food about as Italian as a Chicken Vindaloo
Nicola nasty food, largely out of bottles and packets and vastly overpriced
Alison This place is awful badly cooked food and very expensive avoid it like the plague
Becki Me and my boyfriend go here regularly, we love it. We have never not enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and friendly. 27/05/05
A2 Went with a group of friends on New Years Eve 2004 and really enjoyed it. The food and wine were very good and the hosts extremely welcoming. We ate early (6:30) but already the place was filling up and by 8:30 when we left, there was only one table spare. Very good VFM.
