West Street
Sheffield
What's

Great stuff. Probably one of the best chinese's we've been to, and
we've been to enough of them.
Tastes
brilliant and well presented. Really good Sui Mei (Pork and prawn
dumplings).
One
minor drawback is that we always feel hella thirsty the next day,
prob cos of the MSG contents. But then again all chinese's do the
same.
What
did you drink?
Red vino, same range and prices as most places.
What's
the crowd like?
Very mixed. Students, locals, businessmen, etc
And
the vibe?
Snazzy surroundings contribute to a contemporary feel.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
Best chinese in Sheffield
Value
for money?
£30 for two excluding drinks. Reasonable prices but well worth
it.

Leah & Clare Really good place if you fancy treating yourselves to something a bit special! We chose one of the set menus - mixed starter platter, duck & pancakes, followed by three main dishes and rice, all washed down with a very nice bottle of Chardonnay. The bill came to around £45 for 2 of us, and considering the quality and quantity of the food and the excellent surroundings and service it was well worth it.
Simon I think I have a major problem... I'm addicted to this place. The best value is the lunch meal for only £5.95 which is much better than the Noddle Bar in the West One Complex. Better value and much more delicious. Would highly recommend it as a romantic meal as well as the mood in the evening is really quite special.
Anita I enjoyed my meal, and thought you got alot for your money, the atmosphere was nice and lively. However, I did feel that the meals would benefit from not being so salty. Worth a visit though!
Norah I have been for lunch and dinner a few times now and have had fab food and great service every time. It's so fantastic to be able to get GOOD chinese food in Sheffield at last. The food tastes of actual chinese food, not softened and blanded and fried and sweetened for the English pallet.
Graham Been 3 times now. Some of the best chinese food to be had in sheffield. Decor is excellent as is the service
Mat Bang on, a wonderful and modern Chinese restaurant in the heart of the city. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for couples and large groups of friends alike. Prices are reasonable, the food is good and the staff are polite and accomadating. 25/07/05
Georgina I'm afraid our experience at Hui Wei wasn't great. We opted for the set menu - the mixed starter was really disappointing, especially the battered deep fried spare ribs - yuk. The crispy duck was okay but the little steamer basket contained no pancakes. When we asked for pancakes, only a couple arrived, which weren't really enough to go with the duck. Mains were okay but really nothing out of this world. Perhaps we just went on a bad day but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. All style and no substance in my opinion.
Charlie This place is fab, me and my boyfriend have been lots of times since it opened. I thought it was going to be expensive so was very surprised when we got bills for £25 & £27 for starters, main courses, prawn crackers and drinks (we were drinking beers and spirits) so good value for money. The staff are lovely, the presentation is lovely, I love the bar when you go in we always have a drink before sitting down. Would highly recommend it, also like the fact its a limited menu and you don't have to trawl though thousands of dishes like your basic chinese restaurant. This place has style, class and the rest so get yourselfs down there.
