What's
your name?
Allie
Where
is it?
Cerrone's, 62 High Street, Ecclesfield
What's
the number? 0114
246 1666
What's
the grub like, then?
Very good.Extensive menu, which took almost 30 minutes to 'cogitate'
over!
Typical
Italian fayre, but with some innovative twists on tradition.
We
chose Insalata Tricolore and Mussels in garlic & white wine for
starters, then a Seafood Pancake and pan-fried salmon in a dill
and tomato sauce for main.
Both
myself and my friend thougth all dishes were well-presented and
were cooked perfectly.
I
asked if my salmon could be served with just green veg,no potatoes.
it arrived with said veg, plus an enormous green salad at no extra
cost- v.impressed.
What
did you drink?
2 bottles (well,we were there for the evening!) of house red, which
at £7.50 was very good VFM.
What's
the crowd like?
Couples, young families, office parties - a good mix.
And
the vibe?
The restaurant itself is not what you would call cosy - with the
huge 'shop-front'windows, you feel a little bit like a goldfish, but
the waiting staff were very attentive and friendly.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
The whole restaurant is Non-Smoking. Hurray, no inhaling other peoples
smoke whilst you dine !
Value
for money?
Approx £55 for 2 starters,2 mains and 2 bottles of wine. Very reasonable.
Natalie my husband and I went for our first wedding anniversary as a second choice,we're glad though that we couldn't get a booking at our first choice. I have been past cerone's many times and it's always full, which is usually a good sign and i had to plead to get a booking......but
all i can say about the meal is wow....great Squid with an amazing dressing, Sea Bass that was melt in the mouth and the Crem Brule.....sheer bliss and a good bottle of wine to boot.
We spent £55 and it was worth every penny. We'll definitly be visiting again very soon.
ewaparty Four of us went on Saturday night and it was excellent. Four starters all opting for the lovely king prawns in sambucca. Followed by three steaks and one chicken and spinach pancakes. The profiteroles where to die for with the boys eating more than us even though they don't like sweet things! With a bottle of wine and six bottles of bud the price was around £25 a person. The resturant itself is nice and clean and you can see the chef as he cooks. The service was excellent and eventhough we were on the early sitting we didn't feel rushed at all. We will be returning very soon! 20/04/05
david The huge windows don't lend to building much of an atmosphere but the food is good and prices very reasonable.
