Better than when it was the thai. Upmarket but very friendly and

to book

for money?
£85 for 3 three course meals with an amazing bottle of wine.

What's
the grub like, then? Ok - and thats being too flattering - was expecting great things
from all the hype, but thought the menu very average - we love seafood
and trying out new dishes and were looking forward to this restaurant
finally opening, but it really didn't live up to expectations.
Thai
fishcake starters were dull and unexciting - it's not hard to do
these well, and traditional posh fish and chips for over a tenner
was very disappointing - and they were served with what was very
obviously bottled tomato ketchup - purleese - come on!
What
did you drink? Wine - when it finally came! (see service) - from an unexciting
and unimaginative list
What's
the crowd like? We were virtually the only ones there on a Friday night! Should
that have told us something?
And
the vibe? Very Quiet! Even the staff were obvious by their absence!
Anything
else you'd like to say? The restaurant had been open a few weeks when we went, so the
place had had time to settle in - or so we thought.
The
service was appalling - it took half an hour to be shown to our
table - even though the place was dead - and our drinks didn't actually
appear until after we'd finished our starters and after asking several
times - pretty basic stuff really.
The
waitress was very apologetic that they were short staffed and the
manager hadn't turned up that evening - which wasn't exactly a great
start and didn't instill much confidence from the outset!
Value
for money?
The bill came to over £200 for four of us - 3 courses with
two bottles of wine and coffee - pretty expensive for pretty average
food and below average service.

lofty i went yesterday it was very poor. the worst man
ALEX SMITH HAVE BEEN A FEW TIMES NOW AND IT IS FANTASTIC FOOD AND GREAT FRIENDLY SERVICE AT VALUE FOR MONEY PRICES. GOING AGAIN TONIGHT FOR A CHRISTMAS PARTY CAN NOT WAIT ! KEEP IT UP EXCELLENT !
Shorty Went for the first time with some friends. The food was fabulous.Service excellent. As a fish restaurant it has to be number one in Sheffield and to my mind even outclasses the now defunct Slammers restaurant. The starters are to die for,the main courses were sublime and thew wine was not overpriced. The final touch was the owner/manager who seemed genuinely interested in our view of the evening.I shall return.
Linda Having dined at this restaurant on numerous ocassions I cannot understand where some of the negative comments are coming from ( maybe a touch of the "green eyed monster" )The food is excellent and varied, always properly cooked and served, as any foodie knows seafood can be one of the most difficult foods to get right... so all credit to the chefs. As for price, with the current price of seafood I am amazed that they keep their prices at such a reasonable level.Obviously the Westside magazine agrees as they have awarded the Bluefin their "Newcomer Restaurant" of the year . Congrats to all involved... keep up the good work, from a very happy customer.
Kiki Went for the £9.95 two course lunch - starter and main course with a large (and i mean LARGE!) glass of wine - yesterday. Excellent value for money and the tastiest fish and seafood I've eaten in ages - delicious! I saw a couple of people having puddings too and they looked really good. I'll definitely be going back to try out the a la carte menu for my birthday next month!
Hank Danger Went on a saturday night. The food was smashing. had a great time, staff were fantastic and to top my night off they played Led Zeppelin on the stereo. Keep up the good work!

simon I read your reviews and still gave it a chance..oh dear, soup tasted out of a tin and if I hadn't refused to eat my main course I would have been finished in 40 minutes £70 worse off...I would recommend it to anyone who knows a good food experince.

Jamie After arriving in plenty of time for our 7pm table we were told there was no booking for us!! I got the impression it was our fault somehow, that somebody didn't put an entry in their diary. Therefore the meal seemed rushed. Having said that, the food was a high standard apart from the deep fried monkfish. This was spoiled due to the frying. The desserts were GORGEOUS! All in all a good dining experience, I recommend you go along and see for yourself, double check they have your booking recorded though!!
Bert I have been to the Bluefin 4 times now and it just gets better and better, I went last week to learn that they had just launched a new evening menu which looks fantastic, I the thermidor and the fillet of seabass that was to die for ! I did also notice that they serve complimentary veg & potatoes which most fine dining restaurants charge. On writing this I have also just returned from lunch there, they are offering an incredible 2 course lunch with glass of fab wine for £8.95, for Eccleshall Rd and fantastic food it beggers believe. Long may this place reign, there are also more meat options on the new menu, I have not tried them yet but the steaks etc looked great. Keep up the good work.
Kirsten I've been to Bluefin a couple of times now and it just keeps on getting better. Mouth-watering fish creations, sumptuous puddings, an excellent wine list and a great location. Keep up the good work!

Will We went on a friday night. The food and service were faultless. The place was by no means full, but was busy enough so that we didn't feel that we were the only people there. About £70-80 for a three-course meal for two people was good value, considering the quality. Highly recommended to all except perhaps vegetarians.
