What's
your name?
Lesley G
Where
is it?
The Moorlands, Owler Bar, Sheffield
What's
the number?
What's
the grub like, then?
Gammon, chips and salad. Salmon in butter sauce, potatos, peas and
salad. Gammon was too salty. Salmon was beautifully cooked but a
little too much butter sauce. Chips - OK but not many of them. Dessert
was apple and blackberry flapjack crumble with custard which was
great with real fresh fruit and a lovely flapjack topping and plenty
of it. Other Dessert was supposed to be Chocolate Puddle Pudding
but was sold out so was chocolate fudge cake and cream which was
very chocolately, ok if you like dark chocolate.
What
did you drink?
Stella was proper Stella - not the watered down lager you mostly
get in pubs. Vodka and Coke - as it should be with Smirnoff Vodka!
What's
the crowd like?
ok - plenty of families. Sat just outside smoking area and couldnt
smell the smoke at all. Staff - friendly manager on tills - insists
on calling every woman 'Madam' and every man ' Sir'. Very polite
staff.
And
the vibe?
Traditional feel pub with plenty of room.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
The couple next to me complained because their lasagna was burned
at the bottom of the dish and were given free desserts and Irish
Coffees on the house and an apology from the manager! They definitely
try to rectify problems should they occur. Overall not too bad -
but wouldnt recommend the gammon!
Value
for money?
£20 for 2 people
Paul Have to say that I think Moorlands is great. Been there a nimber of times with our daughter who's nearly 3. We have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Sorry Rob but can't agree with you about the steak. I've had it a few times and it's always been perfect
Jane Wouldn't go anywhere else, no complaints whatsoever, most of the staff are young but very polite & friendly. The food is tasty, you may not get a lot of chips but the quality of the food more than compensates for this.
DAVED IT IS GREAT
Rob This is place is best described as OK - It is the typical chain restaurant Pop it in the Microwave and serve eatery. I woudl recommend the Gammon - or the steak as these dishes have to be cooked on a grill (therefore properly).
Service can be a bit eratic at busy times - but it is generally a good atmosphere which I think is the saving grace.
