What's
your name?
Anna H
Where
is it?
Cafe Ceres
390 Sharrow Vale Road
Sheffield S11
What's
the number? 0114
267 9090
What's
the grub like, then?
Delicious, freshly prepared, French cuisine. The chef is really
french too, what a bonus! This place is a real gem, you can get
a simple snack or a delicious hot meal. They also do a great sandwich
range for eating in or taking away. Open usual cafe hours except
Thursday, Friday and Saturday when they are open until 8. Great
coffee and delicious hot chocolate. I'd give it 5 moos if the toilets
weren't in the back yard.... oh what the hell, they are short of
space, 5 moos it is.
What
did you drink?
Hot chocolate, utterly delicious. Thick, creamy and not too sweet.
Nothing like the watery packet mix you get at most places.
What's
the crowd like?
all sorts, very relaxed and casual. Kids made very welcome.
And
the vibe?
lovely busy cafe, squeezed into a tiny terraced house. The staff
are lovely and the service is as swift as you can expect when the
food is this fresh.
Anything
else you'd like to say?
try the pizza!
Value
for money?
is it ever! I had beef bourguignon, a hot chocolate and a piece
of home made chocolate cake, (felt stupid for attempting the cake
so had it to take away)and it came to less than a tenner.

marco Service varies from one day to the next but overall it is relaxed. As the notice on the wall says " Please be patient at busy times as all food is freshly prepared and may take a little longer" If you're in a rush you can get a take out available.
Liza I think Ceres is wonderful - must try the Polish slice. Biscuits, raisins and chocolate, very decadent, very delicious. Friendly laid back staff who don't mind how long you linger
tony morgan Have to admit the service is 'relaxed' so don't go if you are in a hurry. However probably the best casual eatery in Sheffield and not so much a well kept secret nowadays due to its excellence.
Rich This is Sheffield's best kept secret! great main meals, brilliant deserts (and i'm not even a 'sweets' person) and outstanding value. Very pleasant staff too.
Pete I'd heard great things and it was merely okay. The breakfast portions were stingy for the price, and I never enjoy ordering a smoothie and seeing it come in a bottle. But I would try it again. Service was average.
Jack C With regard to Andrew's review, I urge those who read it (and this) to not be swayed by it and visit the cafe for yourself. I firmly believe that one person's view of a cafe or restaurant is not sufficient to be regarded as correct, especially when others have been completely contradictory. I also believe that if you yourself visit Cafe Ceres you will realise that Andrew's review is inaccurate. Thanks.
Catherine and Mark We eat breakfast there almost every day. Nuff said.
John Sorry Andrew, but are you talking about the same place?!? - Ceres is SUPERB all-round and we go nearly every Saturday morning without fail. If you live in Sheffield and haven't been yet you've missed a treat! Great food, great atmosphere, guaranteed.
Andrew I'd have to disagree. Service has been uniformly dire when I've been, and on my most recent (and final visit, I decided)the food was abysmal.
