Derby Arboretum: England's first public park

Secret Derbyshire

Available for over a year

Donated for the use of the public in 1840 by Joseph Strutt, it has a fascinating history. Designed by John Claudius Loudon, the Derby Arboretum supposedly went on to inspire the design for Central Park in New York City. Join BBC Radio Derby's Charlie Sayers and local historian and member of the friends of the Arboretum group - Paul Elliot, for a stroll around the park.
