Former home secretary Suella Braverman says that although she was born in England, grew up in England, went to school in England she can’t be English. She says she doesn't have the "ancestry, heritage and yes ethnicity" needed. She regards herself as British Asian instead, "with a deep love, gratitude and loyalty to this country". Being English, she says, is just for those with "generational ties to English soil". Nicky heard from listeners all over the UK.
