Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton from his plot in the Rhondda Valley. On a very wet August day it's a good time to put some young beetroot plants in the ground. The runner beans are thriving and slowly filling the freezer, but it's a challenge to dry the onions and potatoes sufficiently for storage in the wet weather. As well as vegetables Terry grows flowers, the sweet peas, sweet williams and gladioli have all been in bloom. But for the first time in August his chrysanthemums are flowering, over a month early.
