From the North to the South the peaceful protesters reclaimed the streets. Thousands of anti-racism protesters gathered in Newcastle, Sheffield, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, London, Brighton. There were some pockets of disorder but the widespread rioting and trouble that was expected - failed to materialise. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley described it as a "very successful night”, saying the fears of extreme-right disorder were “abated”. The Minister for Policing Dame Diana Johnson says she is “cautiously welcoming” the scenes last night. Nicky Campbell asked listeners: Have the riots changed Britain?
